About the job

The main responsibility of the Combustion engineer is to execute R&D Projects in the area of combustion within our product and technology development programs. The Combustion engineer is expected to perform both experimental and numerical tasks. The combustion engineer is responsible for producing safe, cost effective, reliable and maintainable combustion systems. The combustion engineer is expected to further improve OPRA’s current combustion systems as well as to develop new combustion technologies focusing on low emissions and extended fuel flexibility. This function is placed within our Gas Turbine R&D group in OPRA’s Research and Development unit. The Research and Development unit is responsible for developing new products, services and technologies in the field of decentralized power generation.

The main responsibilities are:
  • Performing experimental test campaigns using the combustor test facility and the full-scale engine test facility
  • Analyzing test data and make recommendations
  • Performing CFD simulations of the combustors and associated components
  • Developing 1D analytical tools for combustor performance prediction
  • Creating 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings of combustor related components
  • Participating and presenting in gate review meetings
  • Providing technical support to other departments in the field of combustion and related topics
  • Writing of technical reports and specifications

This fulltime position is based in Hengelo, The Netherlands. Occasional travelling might be required.

What are our requirements?

  • MSc in Mechanical, Chemical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • Background in combustion (e.g. master thesis project)
  • Experience from experimental work and/or numerical simulations is an advantage
  • Experience from product development processes is an advantage
  • English language and communication skills (verbal and in writing) on CEFR level C1
  • European citizenship or Dutch work permit.
